Joab Venable was a farmer in Eldora and Dobson Townships of Surry Co.,NC. On 17 Aug 1862 he enlisted as a Private in Company “I”, 18th Regiment of NC Troops, and died in a Richmond Hospital.
On 18 Nov 1852 when Joab was 24, he married Rebecca T. "Becky" LEWIS, 15790, in Surry Co., NC. Born in Nov 1834 in Surry Co., NC. Rebecca T. "Becky" died in Surry Co., NC on 3 Mar 1929, she was 94.
They had the following children:
