In the meantime she obtained a divorce on the grounds of desertion though believing her husband to be still living, and afterwards married Dr. Lewis Abbott. After Dr. Abbott’s death she heard from John McWhorter in California. He wrote, admitting his neglect and great wrong in failing to support his family and imploring forgiveness. Later a reconciliation was affected and McWhorter returned to Iowa where he and his former wife were married.
