January 27, 1890 ... Chapter memebers; Eli Hiatt, Jennie Hiatt... Officers for 1914: Eli Hiatt, worthy patron...

The Jennie Hiatt mentioned under the article about the Eastern Star is
probably Eliza J. (Current) Hiatt,  who was often refered to as Jennie Hiatt,
and who was a member of the Eastern Star.

Under the article "Religion - Methodist".
New Dayton - There was preaching as early as 1837, at the very first
settlement of the region.  The first Sunday School in the region was organized by Rev. J. G. Brice.  The meetings were held at a schoolhouse near Isaiah Milner's on the present pike from Olive Branch to Stone Station.  A class was organized at an early day and the services were held at various places - at Mrs. Helm's and elsewhere.  It has been, on the whole, a good substantial class, dwindling sometimes, and given up two or three times by the conference; but it would not stay "dropped", and still struggled on, determined to live.  In 1877, a tasteful and convenient church was erected near the cemetery, and the class fell well repaid for the conflict they have endured for nearly forty years.  Some of the members are, or have been, ... Eli Hiatt and wife....

The Family of Eli Hiatt, Jr., apparently never returned to the Quaker
faith as no mention of him or his family are made in the records of that
society after his parents disownment.  Instead, they became members of the
Methodist Episcopal church as mentioned in Tucker's history.  The obituary of
Eliza states that her funeral was held at the Methodist church in Farmland.
From this source one assumes that when they moved into town that they joined or at least attended the church in Farmland.

Some records give Eliza's middle name as Jane.

Sent by Kenneth Macy.  From the records of Annis and Mayme Bales, recvd 1994, microfilmed by LDS Church, 1994/5.  These records have the maiden name as Freeman, son of John Henry and Elizabeth Freeman.  Not Truman, which I believe is not correct, so will go with Freeman.  Was she married twice to have TRUMAN as another name?  LA
