Charles H. EVERLY

  A bereved and broken family
Only a few weeks ago Charles H. Everly was taken to the insane asylum at St. Joseph. This sad affliction broke the wife completely down and prostrated her with grief.  The husband, however, had not long been separated from his wife and loving children until the dark cloud of sorrow again hung in somber silence over this grief stricken little home while the angel of Death claimed teh soul of little Homer and bore it back to the skies there to dwell forever. The death of this little boy, who was 2 years and 11 days old, occured on December 1st, 1893.
   A relative of the family hands us the following poetry with the request to publish.
    Today we ccut the fragrant sod
    With trembling hands asunder
    And lay this well beloved of God
    Our dear dead baby, under.
    Oh, hearts that ache, and ache afresh;
    Our hearts are weak yet being fresh
    Too strong for our restraining.
