Tyre DUNNAGAN

Letter from Bernice Briggs (GGgdaughter) states that a grandson David Taylor said it was "old man Dunnagan that married an Indian.


Rueben DUNNAGAN

Rueben never married. He received a wound to the ankle in the

Civil War,  and died.


Reuben DUNNAGAN (DOAS)

Wounded in the battle of Winchester and sent to a military hospital in Staunton, VA.  From his hospital bed he wrote the following letter to his parents dated Oct. 6, 1864:  Dear Father and Mother, I take the opportunity of writing you a few lines but they will bring sad news to you and the 19 of Sept. I was in the battle at Winchester and was wounded in the ancle and on Sat. after had my leg cut off, it not doing very well. My health(?) is good.  Theres nobody here but Edward Hull which came in to see me today.  He is___ . Father if I git well i will cum home as soon as I can and if I don't I want you to keep what I have yourself and live on the best  (?)----------let Anderson and Allgias know where I am if they should want to come and see me.  So I will close my letter as I am in bad fix--.  Direct your letters to Virginia Hotel Hospital (Ward A), Stanton, Va.  R Dunigan.
  He died in the hospital 19 days later.  His brother Allgias, later shortened his name to Gias, and finally to Guy.


Mary RAYBURN

Mary is from the same family as House Speaker Sam Rayburn of TX.


Kisiah DUNNAGAN

   Keziah is a sister to Susannah DUNNEGAN who married William Vernon MARSH.

Col. Anderson DUNNAGAN Col.

Volunteered for service 4 May 1861 in the first group to organize leave the county for training camp at Garysburg, NC..He helped to orgaineze this company called "Surry Regulators" and was elected 1st Lieutenant the day he volunteered.  He served for two months until his health deteriorated.  He resigned 6 Jul 1861 at age 46.  He later served in the Home Guard in 74 REG 28 Brigade/

A harnessmaker, surveyor, justice of the peace, and clerk, had an office in the courthouse at Dobson.

Margaret Jane PRATHER

Surname may have been Prather or may have previously been married to a Beal or Prather.  In Martha Jane Marsh Taylor's life story she says that she and her sister Sallie went to live with her and her second husband Col. Anderson Dunnegan and that she that the two little girls of Jane's were Ida and Lue Banner.


Edward R. HULL

Was a conscript and joined the army 10 Nov 1863 when he was 43.  Hestayed with it and was present at the surrewnder at Appomattox Court House, VA, 9 Apr 1865...pvt CO C 21 REG NC
