Hugh Mackey (formerly spelled McKey) son of Johnathan Mackey of NC who
married Mary Montgomery but died in Miss) Hugh married Sally Caroline Hughes
Feb 4 1819. She was b. Feb 1800 and died 1831, was daughter of Felix and
Margaret Hughes Miller ...."
According to these notes, quoting from p. 224 of "A Record of the Descendents
of Issac Ross & Jean Brown & Allied Families" Hugh McKey's father was
Johnathan McKey bother of Daniel McKey (husband of Jane Pickens Hughes).
Johnathan born about 1775 in NC. Hugh's siblings were Samuel, John,
Johnathan, Balsora.

From Dunbar Rowland's Mississippi The Heart of the South v. III
Robert Miller ...was a remarkably strong character and splendid business man.
He started life as a poor man and when the Civil War began was one of the
largest planters and slave owners in Mississippi, making, on two plantations
he owned in Mississippi and two in Louisiana, over two thousand bales of
cotton a year. He represented Copiah County in the legislature in the 40's
and represented Hinds County in the legislature which called the Secession
Convention.

"I am now at Lloyds Mills Copiah Ct. Miss selling goods myself and brother
Joseph carrys on a farm near the same place... .I expect to sell my stock of
mdz in a few days and will then have a little more leisure....It will take us
some time to close our business but when you come down to Jackson I hope to
see you at our house."
The obituary of Robert's son Robert N. Miller states that Robert N.'s
"boyhood days were largely spent on his father's plantation near Raymond,
Hinds County, to which his father removed when our depart friend was quite
young."
1850 Copiah County Census lists Robert Miller Senr., 38, planter, owning
real estate valued at $10,000, with children Irene Margaret 12, George J. 8,
Robert N. 4.
