OBITUARY
PICKENS. In this county on the 16-th inst., after a brief illness, Mer. Wm.
C. PICKENS. Deceased was the son of the late Col. Samuel PICKENS, one of
Greene County's most highly respected and valuable citizens. Our acquainance
with him was too slight to enable us to give particulars of his character.
Taht we leave to others. From those who knew him well, we learn that he was a
gentleman of sterling principles, of great energy of character, kind in his
disposition, a devoted son and brother - and a most affectionate husband and
father.
He has been married not quite two years, and leaves to mourn his death,
brothers and sisters, a large circle of friends and a deeply bereived [sic]
widow and one child. His age we learn was 26 years" ------------------- ...
