PICKENS FAMILIES OF THE SOUTH, Sharp:
p. 42. "...Very little is known of [William] except a few deeds and census
records of Anderson County [SC]. He was born ca. 1775 in SC. He is shown living
in Anderson County in 1820 and 1820 census. In 1830 he had moved elsewhere,
apparently somewhere in Georgia. In 1820 his family consisted of his wife, three
sons and three daughters."JOHN SIDNEY PICKENS - HIS ANCESTORS AND DESCENDANTS, Jackson:
p. 6. "William, 6th child born to Israel and Elizabeth BAKINS PICKENS about
1780 in Anderson District, South Carolina. Some records indicate he remained
there until after 1810 when he probably went to Georgia. A William PICKENS owned
a plantation in Jasper Co., GA, as is shown in the 1820 census but only slaves
lived on and worked the land. However, records also show William PICKENS paid
taxes on the place so evidently he was an absentee landlord. His wife's name is
not known but they had 6 children..."

Gen'l John NORWOOD of Abbeville Dist SC
Posted by: Rosie GUTHRIE
Date: February 11, 1999
There was a Gen'l John NORWOOD, who's 'Will' dated 20 JAN 1798 in Abbeville
Dist, SC, listed his children as Andrew NORWOOD, Daniel NORWOOD, William
NORWOOD, Theophilus NORWOOD, John NORWOOD, Samuel NORWOOD and Jean 'NORWOOD'
GUTHRIE. I have always wondered if this was a typing error in a research book &
the name listed as 'Jean' was really 'Jane'. A Jane NORWOOD, b. SC ca 1779, m.
Robert GUTHRIE Sr & they settled in Giles Co, TN, before 1816 & 'most', but not
all, of their children had already been born. Robert & Jane d. in Giles Co, TN.
Their children's names were Francis, John, Samuel, Robert Jr, Theophilus,
Cynthia Amanda, Andrew & Jane Caroline. I know that the name of Theophilus IS a
very popular used given name within most of the NORWOOD families, as well as
many of the other above listed given names. I am hoping that some one is
knowledgeable enough to advise me in regard to the true father of Jane 'NORWOOD'
GUTHRIE, or Martha Jane 'NORWOOD', as one of her son's Bible states. I have
researched this for years & this is the closest that I can come to as an
'assumed' match. I would rather be 'SURE'! I would be very very grateful for any
help & assistance that I can hopefully get. Some one, Please help! Thank you
very much..."THOMAS BOONE PICKENS - HIS ANCESTORS:
