In 1941 John Talbert Hiatt wrote: "Talbert Hiatt (a son of Ezekiel). came to Iowa in about 1850 or before and died here in about a mile of where I now live (Moravia, Appanoose Co., Iowa -- editor.)  and also about a mile from where I was born and I was named after him, my middle name beingTalbert. He was a second cousin to my grandfather Lorenzo D. Hiatt." (R70).
