Lewis Wimmer TEETER Elder

Cont from Buried Source Note>>:"caused the church to look to him to
furnish a commentary on the New Testament. This he completed in 1894,
after almost lcontinuous labor of four years. It was in two large volumes
and has had a large sale in the Brotherhood. When quarterlies were needed
for the Sunday-school he was chosen to edit them. This work he did from
1896 to 1901. Since then he was a large contributor to our Sunday-school
literature. In February, 11915, Bro Teeter's life was saddened by the
death of his faithful wife. She had been afflicted many years, but always
received his most faithful and careful attention. In the spring of 1916 he
was married to Sister Martha Ulrich, a widow and a double second cousin to
his first wife. Together they lived happilky until two years ago whe she
passed on to the other shore. For many years Bro Teeter's home had been in
the beautiful country village of Hagerstown. Everyone knew him as a father
in the church and as a friend who took a genuine interest in their
welfare. He was indeed a sspiritual patriarch, not only to his large home
congregation but to the many others who learned to love and trust him."
Cont to Died Note>>

Cont from Born Note>>:"He loved the church supremely. That he could not
attend the last two Annual Conferences at Lincoln and Hershey was a great
disappointment to him. These were the only two he missed for a period of
fifty years. His health had gradually failed for the last several years,
but he was confined to his bed for only a few days. He entered into rest
Oct 28, 1927 aged eighty-two years and thirteen days." By Otho Winger,
North Manchester, Ind. A photo of Lewis W Teeter 2.5" X 4.25" accompanied
the article which I photgraphed for my file. This was done in Roeland
Park, KS, Nov 8, 1984. CGT/Aug 1994.
