Cont from Died Source Note: "John Lawrence Stewart was born in Carlaoough,
Ireland, May 25, 1877, and passed away at his home east of Wamego, where
he had lived almost eighteen years, December 7, 1918, aged 41 years, 7
months and 12 days. He came to Kansas when eighteen years old and was
married to Marie Louise Picolet, February 20, 1901. One son, Leonard, was
born to them. Besides his immediate family he leaves to mourn his
untimely death two sister and three brothers. John Stewart was a good
citizen, a good neighbor. He had worked hard and intelligently and had
prospered. His farm home east of Wamego was a model of convenience and
utility. But with all his work for himself and his own prosperity he yet
had time to work for others. His efforts to get the Harrington boys
started in farming is well known, as are his effort in their behalf after
they were called to service. And that was not an isolated case but typical
of his effort to help people help themselves. Owing to the influenza
epidemic only a portion of those desiring to do so were able to attend his
funeral. But later on a memorial service will be held at the Methodist
