(1) In 1618, two years before the Mayflower landed...John Bush arrived
from England, along with members of the Virginia Land Company, on the ship Neptune,"...at what was then called Elizabeth City in Virginia.
It is noted that he has since been dubbed "Neptune John," to distinguish him from other "John's" in the BUSH family. The Bush families in Estill, Clark, Madison, Powell, and Lee counties in Kentucky are descended from Neptune" John Bush. Many of his descendants are well documented since they may become members in the prestigious, First Families of Virginia patriotic organization. That organization's official publication "Adventures of Purse and Person," documents many of these relationships. John's wife Elizabeth arrived aboard "Guifte," with the couple's two daughters, Elizabeth and Mary, landing at Jamestown, Virginia April 19th, 1619.(2) John Bush owned two houses in Elizabeth City, it is reported that he was "turned out" of them when his dead brother and his brother's pregnant wife were discovered in one of them. (Ref: Petition of William Kempe referred to the Virginia Company by the King for resolution...) "John Bush, having two houses paid for before Gov. Yardley caome, was then turned out by him, and Captain Neuce put in possession of the same, contrary to all right and equity, whereby he lost all his goods, and his wife, in that extremely was made dangerously sick..."
