Bob,
I found out why some of my uncles spell their names Gregory & Gregoire.
My Uncle Sidney said when he was little they moved from Donaldsonville to
N.O. & when he went to school uncle Gene took him & when the teacher asked his
name, Gene said Gregory & the teacher spelled it Gregory so they left it that &
when they moved back to Donaldsonville the report card spelling was
transferred to the next grade but his younger brother George didn't start
school till they moved back to D'ville & his was spelled Gregoire. Why Gene &
Emile spelled it Gregory I don't know & neither did he. but they stayed in N.O.
& went to work.
