Historical Notes:

(1) George Nicholas and his wife Elizabeth moved to Williamsburg soon after
their marriage and there he continued the practice of medicine.  This is the
same George Nicholas who came from England to Virginia on the Happy Return,
circa 1721.  He was a member of the House of Burgesses 1730-1734, representing
William and Mary College, and was a vestry man in Bruton Parish Church.  Both
Dr. George and Elizabeth died during 1734.  They left three young sons.

Dr. George Nicholas had patented considerable tracts of land in Albemarle
County, Virginia, and in other areas which his sons inherited.  They were also
included in the will of their grandfather, Robert "King" Carter.

Lewis BURWELL

(1) Lewis Burwell was a graduate of Cains College, Cambridge, England, and
was considered one of the most learned men of his time.  He served as a
Burgess, and was President of the King's Council, and acting Governor of
Virginia.
