Historical Notes:
(1) Sir Francis Wyatt was appointed Governor of the Virginia Colony
and arrived on the Georgia, November 18th, 1621. He was the first Govenor
under the new ordinance and constitution enacted by the London Company. Upon
his arrival in the Colony, he organized the first Legislative body, known as
the "General Assembly of Virginia," By the disloyalty in the Colony, the
London Company, deposed Sir Francis Wyatt, but King Charles I, took the
government of the Colony into his own hands, and at once reappointed Sir
Francis Wyatt, who retained the office of Governor. It was during his
administration that the terrible Indian Massacre occurred in 1622, and in 1625 he fought a battle with the Indians, commanding the Virginians in person; the battle took place on the York and Pamunkey Rivers; he served as Governor from 1621 to 1627, when he returned to England to settle up his father's estate, and upon his return to the Colony in 1639, he was again appointed Governor, and served until 1641. He was also an influential members of the King's Council, and was a supporter of the Established Church.

Grand Session for the Counties of Caemarthen, Pembroke, and Cardigan. He was a
Member of Parliament from Maidstone, and was a supporter of the Church of
