George Washington Wagnon's discharge papers show that he was a farmer in civilian life and that he was in the 28th Regiment of Louisiana Volunteers in the Confederate Army. He was described as 6'1" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes and dark brown hair. He was licensed as a Methodist preacher in 1875 and as a practicing physician in June 1881.
After the death of George Washington Wagnon, Angeline Faulkner Wagnon (who was called Ann), returned to Baker Springs, where she farmed and worked at a hotel to support her three children. In later life, Ann lived with her daughter Edna and Edna's husband, Little Boon Morris.

Kinzey Shields farmed in Fulton County, Illinois. He migrated in 1830 to Harrison County, Indiana and built a log cabin. Herbert L. Blue says Kinzey Shields' first name may have been McKenzie. He says the name on the tombstone is Kinzy Shields Sr.
Herbert L. Blue says the family Bible shows Catherine Saffer Shields as Katy and that the 1850 census lists her as Caty. Evelyn Hagenstein Shields Wheeler says Catherine Saffer Shields was called Katy.
