Oliver Commadore Perry SHIELDS
Oliver Commodore Perry Shields is listed in the 1850 census of Cade's Cove with his wife, Margaret, and four children, Richard, James, Arthur and Barbara. In 1854, he moved his family to Murray County, Georgia, where he was listed in the 1860 census with four additional children.
Soon after the Civil War, he moved his family to the Mottla community of Cherokee County, North Carolina, where he finally settled. His brother Arnett made the same move.
Margaret Greer was called Peggy.
Was killed in the Civil War. See 1850 Census of Cades Cove. He was a private in the Confederate Army.
Moved to Colorado.

Arnet and his wife Elizabeth Ketchner SHIELDS had eight children. They resided, some at Ducktown, Tenn. and others at Colberson, NC as given in the J. A. Shields History. (see pg. 5 of SHIELDS GENEALOGY by Mary O. Derrick Coleman).
Arnett Shields was a corporal in the Civil War, serving in Captain Hancock's Company. His company was in the Battle of Chickamauga.Arnett and Elizabeth have been reported to have had eight children, but only four have been identified.
