Information from Willard Heiss's "ABSTRACTS OF THE RECORDS OF SOCIETY OF
FRIENDS IN INDIANA" Elijah with his wife and children were received by the West
Grove Monthly Meeting on Certificate from Whitewater Monthly Meeting, Wayne
Co., IN, March, 1826.
The "Coffin" family record book showed Huldah Coffin committed suicide,
listing the reason as "religious excitement."
In the book, "The Coffin Family," his last name was also shown as
"Mendelhall." We aren't certain of the spelling of the last name. We are
assuming the book was incorrect since "Mendenhall" was a common name and
