Emmanuel VAN METEREN

Historical Note:

(1) Emanuel Van Meteren had a total of thirteen children.
(2) Emanuel Van Meteren was author of "Historie van de Oorlogen en
   Geschiedenissen der Nederlanderen," (History of the Wars and History of the Netherlands).  His history was originaly published in Latin at Amsterdam
   in 1597.  He traslated the work into Flemish, and published it in 1599.
   French editions of the work appeared in 1618 and 1670, and a German edition at Frankfort in 1669.

Jacob VAN DEN CORPUT

Historical Notes:

(1) Jacob Van Meteren in colaboration with Miles Coverdale translated and
printed the first entire English Bible.  The Roman Church sent emissaries to search his house for the "forbidden book and papers."   They lived in the
crucial days of the Spanish inquisition and withstood that persecution for
years.  They finally went to England but their ship was destroyed and they
found a watery grave.
