William Henry LADD

William Henry Ladd is buried at the Friends SW Burial Grounds,
Philadelphia, PA.

"William first met John Brown, (of Harper's Ferry fame), at the New York
State Fare in the fall fo 1845.  They traveled together for three months
through New England, selecting fine sheep, often occupying the same room and
bed.  They became very warm friends, and John Brown frequently visited us in
our home.  He was at that time residing in Akron, Ohio.  He was a man with
peculiar traits of character, but social and entertaining, and we enjoyed his
visits."  Source:  AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF CAROLINE E. LADD

From the AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF CAROLINE E. LADD, "In August, 1881, William, Mariana and I visited the Island of Nantucket at the time of the Clan Coffin Reunion, 200 years after the death of Tristram Coffin.  It was also a reunion
with my brothers and sisters.  The Island is a place of great interest to us as a family.  Our Grandfather Bethuel Coffin was born there in 1756, he went on two sea voyages for whales when young and tales of the ocean, and the island we had listened to from our earliest childhood.  He removed with his parents to New Garden, Guilford Co., North Carolina in 1773."

James Edward LADD

From the AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF CAROLINE E. LADD, "On the 12th of 9th month
1863, after ten days' illness with dysentery, our beautiful and bright James
Edward passed away, aged two years and seven months.  His last words to me were
"Good night," not knowing it was death, and would prove the breaking of a
fairer day than his eyes had ever beheld.  'Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.'
His body was laid beside that of his little sister in a pretty spot in the
country grave yard at Cross Creek, Jefferson County, Ohio."

Benjamin Whitehead LADD

From the AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF CAROLINE E. LADD, "Our son Benjamin and family
moved to Miles City, Montana, in September 1882.  thus scattering at still
greater distance our family, we felt it much to have them go so far."
