   Gula Elma Hiatt Dillon married a Mr. Dillon, an Eastern Yankee, who to hear him tell it, one would suppose he know it all.  He claimed to have been to the Legislature and Congress.  They had several children, and the last time I saw her she and her children in  a wagon visiting her relatives.  She was at Amer Hiatt's farm in Randolph Co., Ind.

record, page 7.  He was born on the Hiatt farm, married Miss. Unthank, dau. of Joseph Unthank, cousin of Josiah Unthank.  She died, he married 3 times.  He lived to be 95 years old.  He married last when over 90 years of age.

   The body of Jesse Marion Hiatt, who died at his home in Topeka, Kansas, on Dec 1, was brought to Sidney last Wednesday.  Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L.B. Worcester of Tabor, assisted by Rev. H.C. Duckett.  Interment was in Mt. Zion cemetery.  The deceased was aged 60 years, 4 months, and 14 days, the oldest son of the late Joseph Hiatt.
   Notes by Leland Smith:  1880 census in Gage Co., NE; 1885 census in Sidney Twp., Fremont Co.; 1895 census of Scott Twp. Fremont Co., IA. Had 10 children, was a baptist, was nicknamed "General."

   Dear Brother and sister Worcester - "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away:  Blessed be the name of the Lord.

No doubt it was a surprise to all when the cablegram was received telling of the death of my beloved husband who passed away on Feb 19, 1922.  He had not been very well since we landed but we thought it was only a cold and the change in the climate.  Ever since Christmas he has been gradually growing weaker, we prayed very earnestly and had others to pray.  Men of strong faith on Devine Healing and God did hear and answered prayer and gave him a devine touch and took the pain away.  Then he could rest quietly and feel so much better but soon the pain would come again very severely in his back and ------

attending to some business in Sidney the first of the week.
   5-17-1907 Wheeler Pickens, Mngr of Thurman Telephone Co. was transacting
business in Sidney on Mon.
    10-18-1907 Wheeler B. Pickens has moved into the house in the west part of town (Thurman) recently vacated by Walter Baldwin.

            Funeral Services Held On Tuesday For W.B. Pickens
   Well Known Resident of Glenwood Passed Away Following Short illness of
                              Bronchial Pneumonia

   W.B. Pickens was born in Brighton, Iowa, July 16, 1860, and departed this
life at his home in Glenwood early Sunday morning, Dec. 28, 1930, at age 70
years, 5 months and 12 days.
   When about four years of age, he with his parents moved into Fremont Co.
near Sidney, where the subject of this sketch received his schooling and grew to young manhood.
   On April 20, 1883, he was united in marriage to Isabelle Hiatt, and to them were born seven children, 5 boys and 2 girls.  One boy, Jesse Bernard, passed away when about 12 years of age.
   Those living are Mrs. R. E. Hixon, Los Angelos, Calif.; Harry L. Pickens,
Omaha, Nebr.; Dwight W. Pickens, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Esther L. Pickens,
Glenwood, Iowa; Victor Pickens, Shenandoah, Iowa.
   Those who mourn his parting are his widow, Mrs. Isabelle Pickens, the
children above named, 12 grandchildren, one great - grandchild, one brother,
Wm. A. Pickens, of Sidney, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Ida Phelps, of Omaha, Nebr., as well as many other relatives and friends.
   Mr. Pickens came to Glenwood about 22 years ago, during which time he made many friends.  He was an expert at the moving of buildings.
   He was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.
   Funeral services were held in the Raynor Chapel with Rev. J.F. Stille of
the West Oak Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Elder Zook of Tabor.
Tuesday afternoon,  Music was furnished by Mrs. W. E. Mc........Henry Hamilton and S. M. Criswell with Mrs. Frank Kemp at the piano.
   The pallbearers were J.L. Ross, Fred Davis, Clark Clover, Ned Wilson, John Valentine and Marion Wiles.
   The members of the I.O.O.F. Lodge attended the services in a body and
acted as an escort of honor as the body traveled over its last lap of the
earthly journey to the Glenwood Cemetery, where the ritualistic services of the order were given at the open grave.
