Worked for the Illinois Central RR. He was struck on the head with a lump
of coal when he was a fireman. The coal fell of the chute and caused a brain
tumor and he died awhile after that, he worked his way up to an engineer.
Jennie was living there until he died, she then went to live with her
mother, Martha in Grand Detour. Martha died there.
Harry Mon
Oregon - Harry E. Mon, 88, 811 S. Thenth St., died Feb 6, in White Pines
Manor after a longillness. He was a retired employee of Reynolds Wire Mill.
He was born Oct 24, 1893 in Grand Detour to William and Martha (Welty) Mon. He
was prededed in death by a son, two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Arlene) Weaver of Polo and a
grandson.
Private services have been held, with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Park,
Dixon. There was no visitation. A memorial service will be at a later date.
Arrangement were complete by the Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
