Wm. WebbABSTRACTS OF PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA WILLS, 1767-1820, there is the following entry on pages 4 and 5:
"Page 383-385, 20 May 1771, Pr [Proved] 24 September 1772. JAMES BOULING (BOLLING) well and in good health and sound memory. I give to my children the estate at the death or marriage of my well beloved wife ELIZABETH BOLLING, to be divided as follows: JUDITH, JOHN, MARY, JAMES and ANN shall have one equal part and ANN and WILLIAM shall have 2 equal parts. To my son WILLIAM BOLING (BOLLING) one tract of land in Pittsylvania County on Boling Creek. Appoint my wife ELIZABETH BOLING (BOLLING) and son JAMES BOLING, JR. as executors. [Signed] JAMES (X) BOLING. Wit: WILLIAM EDWARDS, SR., THOMAS EDWARDS, ISHAM EDWARDS. Proved by JAMES BOLING, JR. and ELIZABETH BOLING with THOMAS EDWARDS and JOHN REA their security."
I believe that Thomas Edwards could well be the father of Elizabeth Bolling, the wife of James. I believe that this John Rea is a brother of James Rea, the father of Elzabeth Rea. I believe that this John Rea married Nancy [did Diane Jones mean MARY Bolling?] Bolling, daughter of James and Elizabeth Bolling.
Pittsylvania was a parent county of Henry, which was formed in 1777

CHAPTER IX EARLY CHURCHES IN PITTSYLVANIA THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND
page 116
[p.116] Stewart's Creek (Halifax Co.). Burgess Wall6 tried in 1747 to patent 400 acres on Stuart's Creek, "including the chappel," but the patent was declared void. A grant7' to John Ray, in 1750, records that "there is a church a building on Peter's Creek" (Patrick Co.). In a patents of 1767 this church was referred to as "the old church on the south fork of Peter's Creek." However great were the bounds of a parish, the vestry arranged for worship throughout its extent. Besides the regularly appointed services conducted by the ministers, on those Sundays when the minister was not present the service of the Church of England was read by members at churches, chapels, and at private homes in neighborhoods in which no church building had yet been erected. These church-men, known as "lay readers," were regularly appointed by the vestries and received 100 lbs. of tobacco a year for their labors.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
