James left a will but it was burned in the LC courthouse fire of 1875.
There is a record of a $3000 bond posed by son's Benjamine and Peter o n 23 Aug 1832.
Also lister were John Dusthimer and Moses McFarlandI have recorded doument giving John (brother) power of atty for him da ted 27 Feb 1827 recorded 13 June 1829.

At The Licking County Genealogical SocietyThe Orr family has been in Licking County since 1804 when it was stil l a part of Fairfield County. They settled in Bowling Green Township w here some descendants still reside. The families of that day were larg e and their children married into neighboring families, themselves pro ducing large families until there must be hundreds and hundreds, perha ps thousands of Orr descendants scattered far and wide across the U.S. A. and around the world.
James Orr, born in Northern Ireland, arrived in America 1758. Within t wo or three years he married Mary Dale, daughter of a fairly prominen t slave-holder of Hartford and Baltimore Counties, Maryland. James an d Mary had nine children born in Maryland and Fayette County, Pa. wher e they moved in 1780-81. Mary died in 1810 and James in 1815. Their ch ildren were: John Dale; James; Jane, married Isaac Courson; Rachel mar ried John McClelland, remained in Pa.; Mary married a Davis; Elizabeth , unmarried; Nancy; Robert and George. Of this family John Dale Orr mo ved to Preston County, West Va.; James, Jane, Elizabeth, Robert and Ge orge moved to Licking County. George and Elizabeth soon moved again t o Union County and died there. James was the last to come since he sta yed in Pa. to care for the aged parents, coming to Ohio in 1817 after their decease.
It is thought that James married Charity Courson, daughter of Benjami n Courson who left Fayette County, Pa. for Licking County about 1801-0 4. It is certain that James' wife died within a few years after arrivi ng in Ohio leaving nine children:
James 1796;Benjamin 1798; Jane 1800; John C. 1802; Rachel, probably 18 04; Peter 1806; Elizabeth 1808; Sarah 1814 and William 1817. The fathe r, James, died in 1832.The son, William, born 1817, remained in Bowling Green Township, abou t 1839 he married Martha Harris, born 1817, daughter of William Harris , Jr. and Mary (Myers) (he served in War of 1812), and granddaughter o f William Harris, Sr. and Martha (Smith) Harris (he served in Revoluti onary War). The Harris family arrived in Bowling Green Township in 180 4 from southwest Pa. and nearby areas of Va. William Orr died in 1850 leaving his widow with five young children: James T. 1840; Eliza 1842 ; Sarah 1848;
Elizabeth 1849; Susanna 1850. William is buried near his father in th e old Courson Cemetery. Martha Harris Orr later married John Starkey a nd lived in Perry County where she died in 1900.James T. Orr, born April 10, 1840, grew up on the Harris farm. In 186 2 he married Elizabeth Snider born in that township in 1844 to Joseph and Catharine (Winegardner) Snider (see Winegardner family sketch). Th ey had nine children: William Harvey 1863;
Sarah 1865, married Adam Cooperrider; Joseph Henry 1867; Perry B. 1869 ; Elias M. 1871; Samuel 1872; Martha 1874, unmarried; Solomon 1875; Jo hn 1877. Elizabeth (Snider) Orr died in 1895 and some years later Jame s T. moved to Marion County, Ohio where he died in 1919. Both are buri ed in Fairmount Cemetery, this county.Of their nine children, the third son, Joseph Henry, born Sept. 14, 18 67, married 1896 Sarah Frances Broseus, daughter of Henry and Eliza (W alser) Broseus, both of early Perry County families, and lived in vari ous areas of Licking County before moving to Newark about 1920. Their home on Buena Vista Street was destroyed by fire and they moved to th e south end of Newark where Sarah died in 1936 and Joseph in 1938. Nethers, he was superintendent of Octagon and Moundbuilders State Park s at the time of his death in 1942; Thomas Raymond 1901, married Evely n Dennis; Estelle Frances 1902-1904; Joseph Paul 1905-1920; Murrel F. 1908, married Ruth Robison Bline and had nine children, he died in New ark in 1959; Murray B. 1910, married Genevieve Hurlbutt and had three children, he died in Newark in 1944.T. Raymond Orr, born Feb. 13, 1901, lived his entire life in this coun ty, working thirty years as a welder and boiler-maker for Tucker Boile r Works which later became Modern Welding Co. In 1927 he married Evely n A. Dennis, born Nov. 20, 1903 in Madison Township, this county to As a W. and Eliza (Ellis) Dennis (see Ellis-Dennis family sketch). Of the ir four children; two daughters survived infancy; Frances Jane, Born J uly 25, 1928, married Kenneth A. Slebodnik and have three children: Mi chael
Ray 1952, married Judith Kuninger with one son, Michael Robert; Mark A lan 1953, married Christine Sturm; Cynthia 1957, married Richard McWil liams and have twin daughters, Marisha and Michele, born 1980.Helen Charleen, born October 5, 1931 to T. Raymond and Evelyn Orr, mar ried August 4, 1950 Ralph S. McGaughy (see McGaughy family sketch). Th ey have five children and three grandsons. After moving to Newark th e Orr family were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. T. Raymond Or r died in Newark April 27, 1964; his wife died October 7, 1933.
