LeRoy Arthur (Roy) BERNHARDT, 85, formerly of Three Rivers, died May 7, 1993.
He was born April 4, 1908, in Three Rivers, a son of Arthur and Clara (WHITTIER) BERNHARDT.On June 22, 1929, he married Lois E. YOUELLS, in Dowagiac. She died April 13, 1981.
He was a member of the Three Rivers First Baptist Church, the Gideons International and past president of the Michigan Men’s Association He had previously lived in Three Rivers, St. Johns, Lansing, Detroit, Constantine, San Diego, Calif., and Cave Junction, Ore., returning to Three Rivers.Surviving are one daughter, Sun Ann TILBURY, Constantine; two sons, James LeRoy BERNHARDT, San Diego, and Richard D. BERNHARDT, Constantine; five grandsons; three granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanne PETERSON, Rapid City, S.D.; and one brother, Lloyd BERNHARDT, Three Rivers. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Paul; and one sister, Dorothy Mae.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services are at 1 p.m. May 20, 1993, at the Constantine First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Revs. John Yeager and Murl Eastman officiating. Arrangements were handled bythe Halverson Chapel, Three Rivers.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph County D.A.R.E. Program.
