Larry Anderson - Families and Individuals

Notes

Benjamin Heath WORTHAM

Notes from Occupation event: real estate/sheriff

This family appeared in the 1850 census of Maury county, Tennessee.
According to genealogist Vivian Roller, a fire in Paris, Texas destroyed many
records.  There was also a "Nathan" age 20 listed as part of this family.
A few Wortham families apparently migrated to, or visited this cousin who was
the Sheriff of Paris, Lamar county, Texas from 6-Aug-1860 to 10-Jun-1861.
TIMELINE: 1836 - General Santa Anna lays seige to the Alamo.

Mary Jane (Burrough) BURROW

Can also be spelled "Burroughs".

Benjamin Nathaniel WORTHAM

Notes from Occupation event: Justice of Peace/mailman

Records of Orville Wortham. "Justice of the Peace from OK statehood to 1930."
On their 60th anniversary in 1930 there was a gathering of the family for a
celebration.  By then they had outlived 1 son and had fifteen grandchildren,
and two great-grandchildren.  Benjamin was blind (cataracts) for several years
before his death. He was nicknamed "Judge" and was a mail carrier at one time.

Acenith Angeline STRAHAN

After the marriage they moved to Arizona (Cottonwood/Clarkdale/Jerome) in February of 1884.  They moved to Stephenson County, Texas in 1887, Wise County (Decatur?) in 1889 and from there to Oklahoma.  Kinta was their final home.

Alfred Heath WORTHAM

The "Elusive Alfred or Alford Wortham".  Bill Wortham shows his date of death
at 1844.  The 1846 date is from Robb Wortham's work.  Vivian Roller reported
in 1993 that there may be as many as three children in the first marriage who
remain unlisted and unlocated.   Vivian pursued a documented "proven" link
between Alfred and his father Edward for many years, until her death in 1994.
A copy of a will purported to be Edward's - naming Alfred - is known to be in
the files of genealogist Fairy B. Edwards. "The Wortham Connection", Page 507.

Ruth HARRIS

Records from Vivian Roller indicate there may have been as many as five kids
by this marriage, beginning with Ellen in 1813 and ending with Mary E. on
10 Dec, 1842.  This may be the marriage where considerable confusion as to the
whereabouts of two or more Benjamins, Heaths and Benjamin Jr's may have come
about, Perhaps a Nathaniel or two.

Ruth THOMAS

NOTE: This is particularly confusing since he later married a RUTH THOMAS who
may have had a Harris surname in her family.  The Wortham Connection book by
Bill (PhD) Wortham shows the second wife as RUTH THOMAS (HARRIS).

Ellen (Polly?) WORTHAM

Bill Wortham shows Ellen's date of birth at 1824.  1813 is Robb Wortham's.
