Volunteered 8 Sep1861 toserve 12 months. Taken prisoner at Roanoke Island, NC, 8 Feb 1862, paroled at Elizabeth City, NC, 21 Feb 1862. He was in a Danville, VA, hospital 18 May 1864 with an eye infection. He was at Appomattox Court House, VA, 9 Apr 1865
