James Lawrence, GILLESPIE

Volunteered 10 Aug 1861 with his brother Warren.  He was taken prisoner at Roanoke Island 8 Feb 1862 and paroled at Elizabeth City 21 Feb 1862.  He suffered a wound at Gettysburg 1 Jul 1863 and suffered a wound at Mechanicsville, VA 30 May 1864.  He was hospitalized at Richmond 8 Apr 1865 and received parole 28 Apr 1865.


Warren GILLESPIE

Volunteered with his brother, Jomes L, other relatives, and neighbors 10 Aug 1861 at Dobson.  Taken prisoner at Roanoke Island 8 Feb 1862.  He was paroled at Elizabeth City, NC, 21 Feb 1862.  In Mar or Apr 1863 he was promoted to Sargeant.  Hewas in a Richmond Hospital 3 Apr 1865 with a gun shot wound in the mouth and wore a black cloth over his mouth the rest of his life.


Jesse MCKINNEY

Jesse was first in the home militia 74 REG 18 Brig.  He went into active service 18 Mar 1862 when he was 21.  He was killed at the Battle of Chancellorsville, 3 May 1863.
