Joseph GORDON

A school teacher....Volunteered at Surry 10 Aug 1861 and was elected 2nd Lieutenant that day.  He was 32.  He was taken prisoner at Roanoke Island, NC, 8 Feb 1862 and paroled at Elizabeth city, NC, 21 Feb 1862.  He resigned 10 Feb 1863 with a certified disability.  CO B 2nd Battalion, NC

James Moseley GORDON

Volunteered 10 Aug 1861 when he was 36 and made Sargeant that day.  Taken prisoner at Roanoke Island, NC, 8 Feb 1862, he was paroled 21 Feb 1862.  Taken prisoner again around Washington, DC< 13 Jun 1864, he was a POW at Elmire, NY. he was sentto James River, VA, 2 Mar 1865.  On 7 Mar 1865 he entered a Richmond hospital and received a 30- day furlough 9 Mar 1865.  CO B 2nd Battalion NC
