Ephraim was engaged with his father Hiel in the manufacture of furniture at
Malta. Later, Ephraim was in the livery business in Zanesville. Here his wife
Sarah died in 1878. In 1886 Ephraim was a house builder in Belton, Missouri,
where he had married second Sally ?.
