Wilmer (Dick) HIATT

From a letter included with notes and materials sent by Lee Bruch Dec 2011.

Just want to thank you for all your work in tracing down Anson Hiatts grave site.  Had I looked at my papers before we took our trip to Carmel, I would have remembered that although he died at Aromos he Was buried in Watsonville. I guess I was just curious about Aeomos - It has a nostalgic sound and I'm glad we were there - it's a lovely setting - And we got to meet your folks too! The apricots were delicious. Thanks again - Just for fun.  I't sending you my communication with Anson Hiatt plus a few photo copys of some pictures i have - I'm sure if you ever see Edgar Strayton he will remember the Bride's family.) Just he was at wmy uncles speaking of him. I  didn't start my genealogy until after my parents and grandparents were gone. How I wish I had started sooner. I'll remember Uncle Wilmer (Dick) to the Staytons as a very kind man. I was looking forward to knowing him better when he came to live with his sister, my grandmother, Jesse Hiatt Bruch after Aunt Bertha passed away in 1964. However, he only lived a few months.

Hi Judy

Thank you for your response and being so thoughtful to save the material.  We haighly appreciate it.  Is the amount of material such that it can fit into an envelope?
All of Emro's granchildren (My generation) range in age from their 60's to into their 80's.

Hi Lee,
Thank  you so much for getting back to me.  I've been trying to straighten out my home office which includes 20 or so years of genealogy going in about 6 different directions!  When my aunt passed away, no one in her direct line wanted her boxers of notes and papers.  I wouldn't let them let them get thrown away .... that w3ould be a sin ... like burning books!! I;ve kept my direct line, Chadwell, Gorham, Shuey and hte husbands connections.  Her husband's famil was Slayton.  I've found a very good home for those records too.  her husband's sister, Bertha Slayton, married Wilmer Hiatt.

So, in a round-about way, I think this info was given to Alzora Snyder (Another Slayton! Rrelative) who, in turn, sent it to Aunt Edna (The genealogist) by Cathryn Driver.

These are probably a duplicate of things you already have .... but I sure would love to send them to you, and let you decide.  In the "small world department", my sister liveds in Montesano (Gray's Harbor Co) and my nephew's family is in Olympia.

I received your message below from a roots-web listserv.  The Embro you mention was my grandfather.  He had  5 children, 3 sons and two daughters. All of his many grandchildren are still alive, including those you listed and others, all of whom I am in contact with, some of whom are very interested in genealogy.  Although he had many, many grandchildren, I am the only direct male descendant, although he did have some male great grandchildren.

I am cc'ing my sister who is also interested in genealogy.  She and I and Cathryn Driver are all interested in genealogy and have large collections of info.

Incidently, by chance, is any of hte information from a Georgeanna (Jo) Bruch?  She's my mother.  She did lots of genealogy research back in the 70's and 80's and got me, Claudia, and Cathryn all started.

Hi All,

My late aunt, Edna Chadwell Slayton, did a lot of  "old Fashioned" research back in the 1960's and 70's. I have become  the proud keeper of all her research.  If hte records are not blood relatoin to me ... I try to find a good h ome for them.

Recently I found some family group sheets (some with copies of old photos) Starts with Anson Luther Hiatt 1838 IND - 1919 CA. Married Rebecca Irey, 1846 IND - 1911 CA 3 children.

1)  Meredith (son) 1873 IN died before 1900, one son Vaughn Hiatt b. 1898
2)  Jessie (dau) 1878 IN 1973 Butte Co. CA married Emro C. Bruch 1875 IN - 1930 Modesto, CA had 5 children
        1) Willard Bruch 1900 IN
         2) Netha 1903 IN 1965 Modesto married Jesse Cover
         3) Irma  1905 CA married 1st Petersen, 2nd Lent
         4)  Emro Jr. 1907  CA
         5)  Robert H. 1913 CA

3)  Wilmer (Dick) Hiatt 1883 IN 1965 CA married Bertha Slayton.  Don't think they had any children.

I think some of the Bruch clan may be interested in family history.  IF anyone knows anyone who is connected I w ould love to get these lovely papers to them.  Netha Bruch that married Jesse Cover daughters in Modesto. (California)
