Thomas Robert Wilson 6/13/22-12/23/02 FARMINGTON - Thomas Robert Wilson (Bob), age 80, of the "Greatest Generation", husband, father, grandfather, friend, passed away Dec. 23, 2002 at Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah after collapsing at Sam's Club in Layton while Christmas shopping. He was born on June 13, 1922 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Nathan James Wilson and Mary Nye Wilson. Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Winona, Lila, Lauretta and his brother Charles. The family moved to California in 1922 when he was six months old. He was sealed to his childhood friend and sweetheart Irene Stone in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on May 31, 1947. Bob served in World War II from October of 1942 in the U.S. Air Force until February of 1947. He had re-enlisted for the occupation of Germany for one year as his fiancee, Irene served a mission in the Northwestern States. In addition to his wife, Irene, he is survived by his children, sons, Scott (Kris) of Sandy, Utah; Jay (Marie) of Grand Terrace, CA; Hawley (Cindy) of Moreno Valley, CA; and daughter, Nancy (Howard) Curtis of Farmington, Utah. One brother, Nate (Barbara) of Walnut, CA; grandchildren, Brett (Aimee), Erick, Kirk, Marc, Shanna (Don Carlos Davies), Brandon (Lindsay), Brooke, Stephanie, Andy, Elder Tyler, Travis and Carly, ages 29-17. He believed in "Family First" but in any assignment he believed in "Just Do It". Bob and Irene thoroughly enjoyed their 10 years in Utah, after living in the same house in Downey, California for 45 years. Bob was a Contracting Lather in the building trade until his retirement. Bob served in California in bishoprics, high councils, and as bishop twice, in a family ward and singles wards in Downey and Maywood, California for a total of 35 years, which included 14 years as a memorable early morning seminary teacher. Bob served in Oakridge 6th ward as a member of the High Priest leadership, Temple committee and Sunday School teacher and as an ordinance worker in the Los Angeles Temple and in the marriage waiting room of the Bountiful Temple. Missed and loved by all his many family and friends. Thanks to Davis Hospital ICC Unit, all the Drs, P.A's and nurses and especially our new friend, Carla, RN. Who so kindly took care of Bob. Thanks to Dr. Stephanie Olsen and Dr. West and the special care he received immediately from the Davis County paramedics and kindness and care from Jeff and staff at Sam's Club, Layton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Oakridge 6th Ward, 1533 North 1075 West, Farmington, Utah. Friends and family may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington Cemetery.
