Rufus volunteered at Mr. Airy 2 May 1861 when he was 20 with his brother William R ....  He was enrolled by Cpt. B Y Graves.  His company marched from Mr. Airy to DAnville, VA where they entrained for Richmond and training cam  Rufus was sick at Camp Rhett in Aug 1861 and was in the hospital in Sep=Oct 1861...He was discharged 6 Dec 1861

B Y Graves.  His company marched from Mr. Airy to Danville, VA where they entrained for Richmond and training camp.  Rufus was sick at Camp Rhett in Aug 1861 and was in the hospital in Sep=Oct 1861...He was discharged 6 Dec 1861
