Funeral services for Pearl Lavina Pace Chivers were held May 1 at the Davis 4th Ward LDS Chapel.Bishop Dennis Henline conducted the service, with Angela Bascom performing the prelude and postlude music. William "Bud" Walker gave the invocation, Tammy Hovde read the obituary. A musical number, "I Need Thee Every Hour," followed. H.R. Dudley spoke next, Debbie Pelzer and Curt Machado read poems. Leo and Leta Snow performed "Rocking Alone In The Old Rocking Chair." Lonnie J. Kimbell and Don Gardiner then spoke, after which Kalee Grothe read a poem. Her grandchildren then sang "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." Tona Rae Beebe gave the benediction. Acael Ray Butcher read the benediction. Pallbearers were Curt Machado, Bryan Meador, Stanley Walker, Rick Lewellen, Dennis Butcher, Roger Walker, Gilbert Meador, Arnold Butcher and Bill Cameron.Honorary pallbearers were D.A. "Pink" Chivers, Ben Kimbell, LaMoine Cameron, J.T. Lewellen, Dean Butcher, Sam Bailey and Phil Biesinger.Compassionate service was provided by Davis 4th and 1st wards Relief Society.Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park.

Friday, October 22, 1999VERNAL -- Leora Winward Chivers, age 81, of Vernal, Utah passed away at her home on October 19, 1999.
She was born December 25, 1917 in Vernal, a daughter of William (Men) Henry and Hannah Murel Karren Winward. She married Marvin John Chivers July 30, 1934 in Vernal, UT; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple on May 7, 1935.
She is survived by her sons, Darris and wife Helen Chivers, Salt Lake City, UT, Giles (Shakey) and wife Marlene Chivers, Vernal UT, daughter-in-law, Sally Chivers Thacker, Vernal, UT; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren; brothers Ervin and wife Nedra Winward, Ogden, UT and Lloyd and wife Alta Winward, Vernal, UT.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23, 1999, 11 a.m. in the Davis Fourth Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Thomson's Vernal Mortuary on Friday evening 7-9 p.m. and at the Fourth Ward Chapel Saturday morning one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Thomson's Vernal Mortuary.

Leora Winward Chivers
Leora Winward Chivers, 81, of Vernal, passed away at her home on Oct. 19, 1999. She was born Dec. 25, 1917 in Vernal, a daughter of William (Men) Henry and Hannah Murel Karren Winward. She married Marvin John Chivers July 30, 1934 in Vernal; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 7, 1935.
Leora was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Davis Fourth Ward. She served in many different positions in the Relief Society Primary, YWMIA and the Sunday School. Leora loved working in her vegetable garden, her flowers and also took great pleasure in cooking and loved music.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Gilmer Chivers; brothers, Gary Winward; and sister, Mary Southam.
She is survived by her sons, Darris and wife, Helen, Chivers, Salt Lake City; Giles (Shakey) wife, Marlene Chivers, Vernal; daughter-in-law, Sally Chivers Thacker, Vernal; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ervin and wife, Nedra, Winward, Ogden; and Lloyd and wife, Alta, Winward.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 23 in the Davis 4th Ward Chapel with Bishop Kurt Case conducting.Douglas Chivers, grandson, offered the family prayer with prelude and postlude music played by Bonnie Kendall.
Lisa Winward, niece, gave the invocation.
Speakers were Lloyd Winward, brother, and Darris Chivers, son.
Tanna White and Bonnie Kendall played a piano/organ duet titled "O My Father;" Daun DeJournette and Ron Walker, sang "Lay My Head Beneath A Rose;" and Jeri Benedicto and Quenton Chivers, grandson, accompanied by Tanna White, sang "Goin Home."
Bishop Case offered closing remarks.Foston Chivers, grandson, gave the benediction and Dee Jay Chivers dedicated the grave.
Pallbearers were Giles (Shakey) Chivers, son; Douglas Chivers, Garson Chivers, grandsons; Justin White, Zachary Martinez, Jayk Chivers, great-grandsons.Honorary pallbearers were the Davis 4th Ward High Priests quorum.
Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Thomson's Vernal Mortuary with compassionate services offered by the Davis 4th Ward Relief Society.
