The estate of Henry Young, who died intestate, was probated 27 November 1827. Widow Young was left with eleven children or twelve children under twenty one years of age. The appraisal began: "One negro woman Violet age 37, $150, 4 mares, six colts, 11 head of cattel including a Brindle Steer, 1 yoke of oxen, 77 sows and pigs, 1 lot wild hogs, 9 head sheep. Value approximately $450.
The first record that Henry Young and Dimpsey Buckalew (Dempsey) were in Pike County, Missoiuri, is found in Pike County Deed book G, page 592. Garret Buckalew sold Young 79 acres "on the water of Ramsey's Creek beginning at David Delauney line and corner of Wilson's survey - continuing with the Delauney line."
