Broussard dit Beausoleil. Following his marriage to Marguerite, he went to live in Petitcoudiac, Acadia, where his family lived until about 1740. About 1740, the brothers Joseph & Alexandre founded "Boundary Creek", a villiage they call Beausoleil, meaning "The Land of Good Sunshine".
In 1755, at the height of the "Grand Arrangements", the Broussard brothers would lead their group into hiding, from thos attempting to deport them. This group would harrass the British successfully for nearly 5 years. Finally, with provisions nearly exhausted & a severe winter in sight, the brothers under a flag of truce, met with the British. They presented a plan of surrender on their terms, including no retaliation by the British against any of their members. They would have the right to food, clothing & shelter and the right to remain together as a group. The British accepted and interned the group as Prisoners of War, at Halifax, Nova Scotia. Following a "Peace Agreement" with France, this group would be released ; would charter a boat to transport them to an area where the people spoke French (initially Santo Domingo, then Louisiana).
Alexandre & Joseph, the Captain's of Militia at the Attakapas (named to this port after receiving provisions, tools & land in the Attakapas) would both perish from the epidemic of Yellow fever. Both died shortly after their arrival at the Attakapas area.
