Bender wrote: "I have a sugar bowl brought over by the first Hiatts and we have a conch shell brought by them, that my great grandmother (Lydia (Stanfield). Hiatt -- editor). sat up and blew all night to keep the wolves away, that kept howling around the house in the mountains of Virginia, when my great grandfather (Jehu Hiatt -- editor). lay a corpse. She was alone with three small children, they having gone into the mountains of Virginia for his health from New Garden, North Carolina. He had consumption, supposed to have been contracted during the Revolution." (R18, 44.)

Euphrosine was the 1st daughter born to Julie Lucier and Janvier Lucier. Her sponsors were Gideon Hebert and Julie Languedor. She was baptized on 23 Feb. 1863, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, at Paincourt.
Conrod died at the age of 53 years, 8 months and 4 days.
Two Wykoff brothers came to New York from Holland, in the 1700's. Catherine died of apoplexy, following chronic brain trouble.
