Charles R. (Tip) Tipton, 68, 536 Kincaid St., passed away Monday morning (May 21, 2001).      He was born in Scott County, Va., on June 26, 1932, and was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Steadman Construction.       Mr. Tipton was of the Baptist faith.       He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable A. Tipton; parents, Kelly and Ellen Carter Tipton; one brother and one sister.       Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Debbie Tipton, Larry and Brenda Tipton, all of Gate City, and Tony Tipton, Jonesborough; and a very special person, Kaye Dykes; granddaughter, Whitney Tipton; grandson, Adam Tipton; sisters, Hazel Herron, Gate City, Nannie Bishop, Wilma Sloan and Peggy (Lucille) Tipton, all of Clinchport; brothers, Guy Tipton and Jack Tipton, both of Clinchport; several nieces and nephews.      Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence.      Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Eckel Herron officiating. Music will be provided by Moneyhuns. Burial will be in Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.

    Emily Jane Arnold, 68, of Route 6, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center.     Mrs. Arnold was a lifelong resident of Scott County, Va. She was a housewife and attended Midway Baptist Church.    She was preceded in death by her father, Ezra Tipton, and mother, Nannie Bishop Tipton; twin sister, Betty Tipton; and sister, Ruth Hensley.    Surviving are her husband, Ben "Curt" Arnold, of the home, daughter, Lisa Arnold, of the home; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul "Cricket" and Betty Tipton, Howard Tipton, and Bill Pat and Shirley Tipton, all of Gate City; one sister, Diane Ison, Gate City; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home in Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence.     Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. George Willis and the Rev. Coy Butler officiating.Music will be provided by the Midway Quartet.     Burial will be at Holston View Cemetery.    Pallbearers will be Brandon Hensley, Scott Hensley, Grayling Bishop, David Bishop, Teddy Pendleton and Albert Hensley. Honorary pallbearer will be Dan Sloan.
