Matson Services Held Here SaturdayServices for Dora Matson, 87, formerly of Allen, were held Saturday afternoon at the Bressler-Humlicek Funeral Home here. The Rev. Gene Lee of the Baptist Church in South Sioux City officiated.Dora Matson was born August 17, 1906 at Whiting, Ia., the daughter of Charels and Lottie Kearnes Tipton. She died Novemeber 3, 1993 at Matney Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.The Tipton family moved to farm between Winnebago and Walthill when Dora was 12 years old. She graduated from Winnebago High School. Dora and Leon Matson were married in 1936. The couple farmed in the Allen/Ponca area until 1980 when he passed away. In 1989 she moved to Matney Colonial Manor where she resided until her death.She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.She was also preceeded in death bt three sisters and two brothers.Survivors include a sister, Eva Howard of Ogden, Utah, nieces and nephews.Internment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Walthill.

Eva Tipton-HowardOGDEN---Eva Mildred Tipton-Howard, 93, was called home Thursday, April 26, 2001.She was born July 28th, 1908 in Macy, Nebraska, a daughter of Charles Edward and Lottie Karns Tipton.Eva married Earl Raymond Howard on April 4, 1925 in Council Bluffd, Iowa. They moved to Utah in 1956.She worked at Boeing Aircraft during World War II, and also at Stephen’s Cannery & Del Monte. Surviving are two sons, Larry Howard and Ran Dee Howard, SR. both of Ogden; her caregivers as well as her granddaughters, Van Dee Howard and Trini Tracy, both of Ogden; a niece, Lyla Moore, Omaha, NEB; a sister-in-law, Mildred Broderson of Le Mars, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, all who loved her greatly.She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, her husband, Earl Howard, a son, Everett, and a daughter, Leola.Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.Friends may call the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.We had you for many years, Grandma---you will be greatly missed! Until we meet again, love your family.She was with Boeing Aircraft Co., in Seattle, WA. She was an airplane mechanic during the World War II. There was a shortage of men, so she was one of the females who worked the factory to help build & fix planes while the men were at war. She was 4 months pregnant at the time, with Larry. She gave up her job when the men came back from the war. She also worked at Steven’s Tomato Cannery in Clinton, Utah & the Del Monte Vegetable Cannery when it was in Utah.
