Calvin moved with his parents to Ind. about 1830. Rachel Carr, daughter of Thomas and Jemima Stanley Carr moved from Fairfield MM, Ohio to Springfield MM, Ind and joined the Anti-Slavery Friends.
The 1850 Census listed Calvin and Rachel and five children in Stoney Creek Twp. Henry Co., Ind. About 1858 they moved to Wisconsin and in 1860 were listed in the Town of Westford, Richland Co., Wi. Census #187. Richland Co. was adjacent to Sauk Co. where Calvin's parents died.
At least one of Calvin's sons participated in the Civil War. Simeon Davis enlisted 23 Sept 1863 in Co F. Winconsin 3rd Cavalry Reorganized, and was mustered out 5 Jun 1865.
In 1869 Calvin and Rachel recieved a certificate from Ironton MM, WI to
Bangor MM, Marshall Co., Iowa. In 1870 Calvin, 50, Rachel 52, Ira, 24, and
Edom 21, lived in Bangor Twp, Marhsall Co., They lived next door to Miles Carr, 34, Rachel's brother or half brother. A John Breson (Beeson) 19, lived in Calvin's household. On 18 May 1872 Calvin and Rachel received a certificate to Lawrence MM, Douglas Co., Kansas but no references to them were found in Kansas Friends records.
According to Melissa Davis Cadnum (S2473), either Simeon or Hiram was
killed in the Civil War, Ira died in Kansas or Missouri, Matilda died in Clay
Co., Iowa and Edom died in Calif.
