Since the death of his father, Joe has operated the farms at Stony Point, Shady lawn, which is the ancestral home of the Hawkins County Tipton'; Tennessee. This home was established in 1870.
Mrs. A. D. Tipton still occupies the home. Joseph & Family also lived there untill 1939 when he built a new home "Boxwood Drive" on the Lee Highway, three miles east of Stony Point, Tennessee. The old home, surrounded by large and statemy trees has housed four generation of Tipton. Shady Lawn Dairy is on this Farm.
