Dr. Merrill Tipton, He was a doctor of Naturopath for more than 40 years in Chicago, Illinois and St. Petersburg, Florida. His Chicago Office was in the Deleware Building, in Woodlawn, oppisite the University El Station Merrill and Velma had no children.
The doctor was active in Civil work ; Commander of Woodlawn Post # 175 of the American Legion; President of the Associated Club of Woodlawn, with the University of Chicago as the Largest member. He was a Board member of Woodlawn Business Mens Assn. One of his sisters, ruth was the highest paid woman in the Swift & Company Plant. Helen the other sister was with the Wilson Packing Company for many years in accounting. His brother Claude went to Florida and established a Dry Cleaning Plant. When his father , Claude Tipton died 1 May 1901, his mother brought the family back to her old home town and parents living in Rushville, Illinois ( Here Velma is buried). His mother had graduated from college in 1890 and went to Western Kansas to Wichita County, to visit her sister, Alice and to stake out a Claim. It was here she met father. His brother's son Walter Glenn Tipton is a retired Police Captain of the Detective Bureau, St. Petersburg, Florida and is now the Water Commision.Obituary

Dies in St. Petersburg
Word was received this week of the death of Dr. M. Glenn Tipton in St. Petersburg, Fla. He died last Thrusday. The body was cremated and memorial services were held at Bay Pointe Christian church in St. Petersburg on Sunday. The ashes will be brought to Rushville for memorial services and burial at a later date.
Tipton was born in Leoti, Kansas and moved to St. Petersbury from Chicago in 1939 where he was a naturopathic physician from 1939 to 1969 . He was a member of the Christian Church, a member of Schuyler Post No. 4, American Legion in Rushville, a past Commander of the Woodlawn Civic Association, both of Chicago. He was the founder of the Southside Tourist Bussinessman's Association and an Army Veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Anita a brother, Claude, both of St. Petersburg, a nephew and several nieces.
