David C. Dall
David Dall was said to be very wealthy. One indication that this mightbe true was that he owned a cemetery space in the Rose Hill Cemetery inChicago that contained 24 individual plots. He was also constantlyreferred to as Captain David C. Dall. David Dall owned or was part ownerof at least two ships. They were the "Margaret Dall" and the "LincolnDall." The Margaret Dall was blown ashore at South Manitou island andwrecked in 1906. it was built in 1867, The Lincoln Dall was built in1869 in Chicago. It was wrecked off Glencoe, Illinois, May 18, 1894.David was mentioned in the obituary of another prominent ship Captain asbeing "a well known ship owner." In his later life he owned a shippinginsurance company. He was listed in the Newburg Registry of Births andMarriages as "illegitimate."

Mathew Clunie came to the United states in 1854, landing in New York.From there he made his way up the Hudson River and the Great Lakes toRacine. He worked on the Racine and Mississippi Railroad for a while.In the 1860 Census his occupation is listed as a teamster.

Although she was christened as "Christian" Dall, her family knew her asChristine or Christina. She followed her husband to the United States in1855.
