1853 went to California gold rush by wagon train, returned by ship around the Horn ( The Graham
& Tipton Story by Owen Gayle Graham). Served in the Union Army from august 15, 1862
unitl June 10 1865. On September 1, 1863l Bazell Foster was promoted to Corporal. On September 27, 1864 Corporal Tipton was promoted to Sergent. Bazell Tipton is listed as a Farmer in an undated
book Farmers of Iowa. Someone had penciled in the date of 1892. Most of the farmers listed were
in Washington County Iowa. He is also listed as a Civil War Veteran from Wellman, Iowa. Burial is
listed as Lexington,Cemetery. When Russian Premier Nikita Krushev visted U. S.
and was taken on tour of the farms, Bazell's old farm was one he was taken to as it was considered
one of the best farms in Iowa. He also claimed to be a relative of President Andrew
Jackson.
In 1886 he was in member of Iowa State Legislature.
