Robert Sevier married Kesiah Robertson, who was born in 1753 and died between 1800 and 1806. She was the daughter of Col. Charles Robertson ("Black Charles") and Susanna Cunningham.
Kesiah is said to have later married Major Jonathan Tipton, and moved to Buncombe County about 1800. The reference to her as Kesiah Sevier in the 1798 will of her father raises the possibility that her marriage to Tipton may have occurred considerably later than usually assumed. Lavina Stephens Tipton's pension application stated that she married Maj. Jonathan Tipton in Buncombe County about 1813. This was after Kesiah's death.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------He married Kesia Robertson, then the widow of Captain Robert Sevier, brother of Col. John Sevier, and left a will in Buncombe County, N.C. dated April 6, 1850. There is some speculation as to the marriage of Kesiah and Jonathan. In some of the research found, it is believed that they were never married. It appears that several children were born to them but because of the controversy surrounding them it is hard to say just what children they had together
